Principal Packaging Engineer
Hybrid working – Slough
Salary between £60,000 - £75,000 (dependent on experience) plus annual bonus and amazing benefits
As a Principal Packaging Engineer at Mars, you will lead a series of large change programmes that will help to deliver our packaging change goals whilst contributing significantly to future EU compliance readiness. A high level of collaboration with other functions is essential in order to deliver change with minimal disruption.

What are we looking for?
- Extensive experience of Packaging Development is essential.
- A deep understanding of materials composition, development cycles and supplier processes is key to success.
- The ability to manage large strategic packaging change programmes in a structured way, managing risks, costs and aligning cross functional resources proactively.
- A track record of delivering technical packaging projects across the key formats - rigids, flexibles, cartons and corrugated.
- We want someone who can work independently and be a team player.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Direct leadership of large packaging change projects.
- Support the Packaging Team through technical development challenges using a combination of technical experience, project management skills and your external network of contacts.
- Partner with the Global Packaging and Engineering teams where delivery of new materials technologies are required.
- Partner with Commercial to find and validate new sources of recycled materials and technical papers.
- Support the testing and introduction new digital technology aimed at improving technical insight, reducing risk and fast-tracking new packaging developments.
